Additional relaxations are available for serving Railway employees, widows/divorced women, PwBD candidates, ex‑servicemen, staff of quasi‑administrative organisations and Course Completed Apprentices as detailed in the notification.

Educational Qualification

  • Level‑2 (Group C): Passed 12th (+2) with at least 50 % aggregate from a recognised board (relaxed for SC/ST/ESM/PwBD). Alternatively, 10th pass + National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) / ITI approved by NCVT. A Diploma in Engineering is not considered an alternative.
  • Level‑1 (Erstwhile Group D): 10th Pass, or ITI, or an equivalent qualification, or a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Scouting/Guiding Qualification (mandatory for both levels)

  • Must be a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger, or hold a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) in any section.
  • Active member of a Scout Organisation for the last 5 years, supported by a “Certificate of Activeness”.
  • Attended at least two events at National level (or All India Railways level) and two events at State level.

Reservation Policy

The Scouts & Guides quota is open to all candidates. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ESM/PwBD categories receive the usual age relaxation, but they are allotted against a reserve‑roster point rather than a separate reserved vacancy.

Pay Scale & Salary

  • Level‑2 (Group C): 7th CPC Level 2 with Grade Pay Rs. 1900.
  • Level‑1 (Erstwhile Group D): 7th CPC Level 1 with Grade Pay Rs. 1800.

Selection Process

  1. Stage‑I: Written Test (60 marks) – 40 objective‑type questions (40 marks) + 1 essay‑type question (20 marks) on Scouts & Guides activities and General Knowledge. Duration: 60 minutes. Minimum qualifying percentage: 40 %.
  2. Stage‑II: Marks on Certificates (40 marks) – Points awarded for participation in National/State events, specialised courses, and district rallies as per the schedule in the notification.
  3. Medical Examination – Candidates clearing Stage‑I and Stage‑II are called for a medical test in a 1:1 ratio of notified vacancies.
