Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
Candidates must be between 18 and 45 years as on 01‑01‑2026. A relaxation of up to 5 years in the upper age limit is available for SC/ST/OBC (non‑creamy layer) of Himachal Pradesh, Ward of Freedom Fighters, and Persons with Disabilities, subject to reservation of the post.
Educational Qualification
- Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55 % marks (relaxed to 50 % for SC/ST/OBC and PwBD candidates).
- Qualified in NET (UGC/CSIR) or an equivalent test such as SLET/SET. Ph.D. holders are exempted from NET/SLET/SET provided the Ph.D. meets HPPSC criteria.
- Ph.D. holders must have:
- Regular mode award, evaluated by at least two external examiners, with viva‑voce.
- At least two research papers (one in a refereed journal) and two conference presentations derived from the Ph.D. work.
Pay Scale & Salary
All selected candidates will receive a fixed emolument of Rs. 35,000 per month as Job Trainee.

Selection Process
- Application Scrutiny – Provisional admission of eligible candidates; rejected candidates get 10 days to represent.
- Paper‑I: Screening Test – 1‑hour CBT/Offline MCQ (100 marks). Qualifying in nature; negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer.
- Paper‑II: Subject Aptitude Test (SAT) – 3‑hour descriptive test (120 marks) based on subject‑specific syllabus, conducted same day as Paper‑I.
- Document Verification – Original documents checked for shortlisted candidates as per category‑wise zone ratio.
- Personality Test – 30‑mark interview held at HPPSC office, Shimla. Minimum pass marks: 40 % (General) / 30 % (Reserved).
- Final Merit List – Based on SAT (120) + Personality Test (30) = 150 marks. Paper‑I scores are not counted for final merit.
