Post & Organization Details

The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) is conducting recruitment for 436 backlog posts of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS) and Additional Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (AVAS) in the Fisheries & Animal Resources Development (ARD) Department, Government of Odisha. These are Group‑A (Junior Branch‑II) positions under the Odisha Veterinary Service.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) or an equivalent degree from a recognized university/college/institution in India or abroad.
  • For foreign degree holders, a conversion certificate recognized by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) is mandatory.
  • Must hold a valid Registration Certificate under the Odisha Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1970 (Section 21) and must register before the last date of online application submission.

Age Limit

  • Candidate must have attained 21 years and must not be above 47 years as on 1 January 2026 (i.e., date of birth between 02 January 1979 and 01 January 2005).
  • Persons with Disabilities belonging to SEBC/SC/ST categories enjoy an additional relaxation of 10 years over and above the upper limit of 47 years.
  • If a candidate falls under multiple relaxation categories, only the most beneficial relaxation will be applied.

Pay Scale & Salary

  • Pay scale: Rs. 56,100 (Level 12, Cell‑1 of Pay Matrix under Rule‑3 of the ORSP Rules, 2017).
  • Applicable Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances as per Government of Odisha rules.
  • Appointees are covered under the Contributory Pension Scheme (NPS); pension under the Odisha Civil Service (Pension) Rules, 1992, is not applicable.
