Qualification

Educational Requirements

  • Degree: B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc. (Engineering) or 5-year Integrated M.Tech.
  • Minimum Marks: 60% aggregate marks in any of the eligible disciplines from a recognized AICTE/UGC institution.
  • Note: Only full-time, on-campus regular degrees are accepted. Distance, correspondence, or part-time degrees are not eligible.

GATE Score Requirements

Candidates must possess a valid GATE score from 2024, 2025, or 2026 in the same discipline as their qualifying degree. GATE scores from 2023 or earlier will not be considered.

Salary Details

During Training: Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 74,000/- along with a one-time book allowance of Rs. 30,000/-. Lodging and boarding will be provided by NPCIL.

After Appointment: Upon successful completion of training, candidates are appointed as Scientific Officer/C (Group A) in Pay Level 10 (Basic Pay Rs. 56,100/-) plus DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, Site Location Allowance, and other central government benefits.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of shortlisting based on merit followed by a personal interview and medical examination.

  • Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted for interview based on GATE 2024/2025/2026 scores in a 1:12 ratio per discipline and category.
  • Personal Interview: Final selection is based purely on performance in the interview. Minimum qualifying marks are 70% for UR and 60% for reserved categories.
  • Medical Fitness: Mandatory fitness certification by an NPCIL authorized medical officer.
  • Bond: Selected candidates must sign an indemnity bond of Rs. 9,18,000/- and a service bond for minimum 3 years post-training.
