The Indian Army is recruiting unmarried male and female law graduates for the Short Service Commission (JAG) Course under the 125th JAG Entry Scheme (April 2027 batch). The training will be conducted at the Officers Training Academy, Chennai, followed by SSB interviews at various centres.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam (with eligibility certificate)

Marital Status

Only unmarried male and female law graduates are eligible.

Educational Qualification

  • Minimum 55% aggregate in LLB (3‑year professional course after graduation or 5‑year after 10+2).
  • Valid CLAT PG 2026 score (conducted Dec 2025) – mandatory for all candidates.
  • Eligibility for registration as an advocate with the Bar Council of India/State.
  • LLB must be from a university/college recognised by the Bar Council of India.

Age Limit

Age Limit 21 to 27 years as on 01 Jan 2027
Date of Birth Range Not earlier than 02 Jan 2000 and not later than 01 Jan 2006 (both inclusive)

Pay Scale & Salary

  • Stipend during training at OTA, Chennai: ₹56,100 per month.
  • Rank after training: Lieutenant.
  • Pay Level on commissioning: Level 10, ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500.
  • Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500 per month (Lieutenant to Brigadier).
  • Approximate CTC on commissioning: ₹17–18 lakh per annum.
  • Additional allowances (subject to eligibility): Dearness Allowance, Para Allowance, Field Area Allowances, Dress Allowance, Transport Allowance, Children Education Allowance, Hostel Subsidy, etc.

Selection Process

  1. Application submission and shortlisting based on CLAT PG 2026 score and vacancy‑to‑call‑up ratio.
  2. Selection of SSB centre and date (first‑come‑first‑served; cannot be changed).
  3. SSB Interview – two‑stage selection at Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru or Jalandhar (duration up to five days). Candidates failing Stage‑I are returned the same day.
  4. Medical Examination for candidates recommended after Stage‑II.
  5. Merit list preparation based on SSB marks.
  6. Issuance of Joining Letter for Pre‑Commission Training at OTA, Chennai, subject to eligibility and vacancy availability.

  5. Fill in personal, communication, education, and previous SSB details as required.
  6. Review the summary of entered information carefully.
  7. Click “Submit” only after confirming that all details are correct.
  8. Print two copies of the submitted application (with roll number) within 30 minutes after the online window closes on the last day.
