Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidate must have passed the 12th standard (Higher Secondary) examination from a recognised board or its equivalent. For the Railway Board Secretariat Clerical Service, an additional typing test (35 w.p.m. in English or 30 w.p.m. in Hindi on computer) is required within one year of appointment.

Length of Service

Minimum 3 years of regular service as a Group ‘C’ employee or MTS in Level‑1 (Grade Pay ₹1,800) in the respective cadre, counted as on the cadre‑specific crucial date.

Age Limit & Relaxation

For most cadres, the maximum age is 45 years (up to 50 years for SC/ST) as on the crucial date. Age relaxation is as follows:

Pay Scale & Salary

The selected candidates will be appointed at Pay Level‑2, Group ‘C’ Non‑Gazetted with a salary range of ₹19,900 to ₹63,200 per month, as per the latest pay commission.

Application Fee

No application fee is prescribed for this Limited Departmental Competitive Examination. (A separate non‑refundable charge of ₹50 per question may be applicable only if a candidate challenges the tentative answer key, which is unrelated to the application.)

Selection Process

  1. One Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC portal.
  2. Online submission of the application form (must be forwarded by the Head of Department/Office).
  3. Hard copy of the application, along with service documents, to be sent to SSC‑NR by the stipulated deadline.
  4. Computer Based Examination (CBT) held in Delhi‑NCR (July‑August 2026).
  5. Result declaration and posting of selected candidates.

How to Apply

  1. Generate OTR on the new SSC website (ssc.gov.in). Click “Register Now”. Old OTRs will not be accepted.
  2. Choose Aadhaar‑Based Authentication during OTR (recommended). If Aadhaar is not used, upload the prescribed proof documents.
  3. Log in with your Registration Number and password, navigate to the “Live Exam” tab and click the link for “JSA/LDC LDCE 2025”.
  4. Fill in the application details – service, cadre, crucial date, length of service, and age‑relaxation code (if applicable). Information auto‑filled from OTR cannot be edited; use “Modify Registration” for corrections.
  5. Upload a recent passport‑size photograph and your signature as per specifications.
  6. Upload the required supporting documents (listed below) and submit the application. Take a printout of the submitted form.
  7. Forward the printed application, together with service documents, through your Head of Department/Head of Office to:
    The Regional Director, Staff Selection Commission (Northern Region), Block No. 12, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi – 110003.
    The hard copy must reach SSC‑NR by 03‑07‑2026 (6:00 PM) or by 10‑07‑2026 for candidates posted abroad/A&N/Lakshadweep.
